RHEL, edit this file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
#vi /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
IPADDR="IP address"

save this file and restart network, do the following
#/etc/init.d/network restart
